Yonatan Halevy reports on an interview with Mussa Abu Marzuk, Khaled Mashal's Deputy in Hamas, in which he stated that the failure of any political process to solve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict will lead to ultimate victory and the destruction of Israel.

The Reut Institute identifies Abu Marzuk's comments as reflecting the Resistance Network's Logic of Implosion. According to the Logic of Implosion, Israel will not be destroyed militarily but rather by political pressure on a number of fronts that will ultimately lead to its internal implosion as a state (along the lines of South Africa or the former Soviet Union). This logic ultimately promotes the establishment of one Palestinian / Arab / Islamist state in place of Israel.

One of the means of the Logic of Implosion is to foil all attempts of solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict according to the principle of the Two State Solution.

The Resistance Network uses terror and other means to foil Israeli progress, both militarily and politically, towards ending the control over the Palestinians and securing its existance (See: Terror is an Existential Threat).

The dissolution of the PA would promote the Logic of Implosion by making sustained separation between Palestinians and Israelis much harder (See: Dismantling the PA – an Emerging Trend).
