Reut at the 2008 Herzliya Conference

In the panel entitled "The Balance of Israel's National Security" at the 8th Herzliya Conference, Reut presented its main conclusions regarding the question of why Israel is growing but not experiencing a socio-economic "leapfrog".

The Reut Institute at the 8th Herzliya Conference: "The Economic Problem is Governance"

Gidi Grinstein, Founder and President of the Reut Institute, presented in the panel entitled "The Balance of Israel's National Security" at the 8th Herzliya Conference the Reut Institute's main conclusions regarding the question of why Israel is growing but not experiencing a socio-economic "leapfrog".

Grinstein presented the difference between growth and a "leapfrog", the common ground of countries that leapt, and the necessary conditions to enable an improvement in quality of life for all of Israel's citizens.

The conclusion of the work is that the weakness of governance prevents Israel from leaping and closing the gap between it and richer countries.

Grinstein: "The potential for a leapfrog in Israel exists. The private sector and the population are among the world's leaders. Governance in Israel is among the weakest in developed countries and this is the principal obstacle on the way to realizing the Israel 15 Vision."
